Duncrahill Stud is a small family run stud, rehabilitation centre and associated equine enterprises located in the heart of the East Lothian countryside, Duncrahill Stud operates as part of the main farming enterprise.

At Duncrahill stud our aim is to breed and produce quality sports horses that can compete in any equestrian sphere, from dressage and eventing to showing and pleasure riding, with many of our horses having made successful young riders’ horses. Our success has been achieved through a planned breeding policy which has been in place for over 30 years.

Most of our brood mares are home bred with full or part Quarter Horse / Thoroughbred blood lines, going back to the imported Quarter Horse stallions Sidehill and Venture Max, some tracing back 3 generations of our own breeding. All our mares are bred to stallions that are chosen for their superb temperament, outstanding confirmation and excellent performance history. Our aim is to provide a friendly, relaxed but professional service to all our clients. Some of our clients are first time breeders and we are pleased to be able to offer excellent advice and an appropriate follow up service.

The policy at Duncrahill stud is to use Artificial Insemination to ensure that the best stallion is selected to be bred to each mare. Duncrahill stud, in conjunction with Links Veterinary Group, East Lothian offers an equine Artificial Insemination service for outside mares using chilled semen from the stallion of the owner’s choice. We can offer you the complete package from artificial insemination through to foaling, weaning and any after care required.

We also have fantastic rehabilitation facilities for horses requiring long or short term box or field rest, with associated treatment and rehabilitation following injury or illness.

The Old Stable Yard, Duncrahill under the proprietor Sandra Morrison BHSI, offers the opportunity for rider and horse training, including exam preparation, and Livery facilities.
